The beautiful country of Vrancea, placed at the foot of the mountain that make up the curvature of the Carpathians, the realm where doinas, ballads, old stories and legends have been created, it is one of the most representatives Romanian regions, a true "small scale icon of the big country" as Iorga calls it.

    The mountain that guard it are covered with the adornment of the old forest and poetic realms lit by glades. The region where Moldova, Walachia and Transylvania shake hands is full of traces of Putna, Lepsa
Naruja ands Zabala Rivers that have penetrated the rocks of the mountains and have squeezed their waters through falls and wild gorges, then finding their way towards the sun.

 From the very beginning, in this country only the law of the free peasants has been observed, its legendary autonomy being respected and enforced, times and times again, by several lords.

    Conservative and traditionalists, Vrancea people have set up since the days of its founders  "a kind of republic" governed by old customs and laws, having as common properties mountains, forestst, waters and pastures, flocks of sheep, and hurdles of cows.

   Their centuries of long isolation and liberty has helped Vrancea people the preserved their traditional costumes, way of speaking, beliefs and customs untouched.

The most important vocation of Vrancea is that it opens wide persepectives towards past, a world of ancestral myths and legends.

Crossing the old country of Vrancea, visiting its its villages, we discover a world whose fundamental values have been preserved from ancient times, whose natural beauties amaze us and invite us to come back.

  By means of all that stands for history, spirituality and culture, Vrancea presents in a synthetic manner the Romanian culture unity and identity with most specific, representative and valuable features.
